CAMPAIGNS, SHEEMA, PRESIDENT
President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday wnet to Sheema Municipality to campaign for NRM flag-bearer Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye.
Tumwesigye is Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. The President also canvassed support for Abel Kahara Atucungwire, who is the NRM flag-bearer for Sheema Municipality Mayor.
Sheema Municipality is a newly created constituency that has been curved out of Sheema North. It includes Kabwohe and Itendero towns. The President told rallies at Kihunda Health Centre and in Kabwhohe to elect a leader who understands the needs of the people at the grassroots level.
He described the achievements of the NRM as the fruits of a focused leadership system that has prioritized crucial issues that affect the masses in the country.
“There is no doubt that what NRM has achieved is crystal clear. Here in Sheema District, out of 29 secondary schools both private and government aided, 15 are government supported while out 176 primary schools, 120 are government supported,” he said.
He emphasized that the government input in the development of infrastructure such as education, roads, electricity, water and health sectors is clear adding that what people should emphasise most is to look into is income generation at household level.
He assured the people that the road from Kabwohe to Kitagata is under plans for tarmacking and that a number of main murram roads in the district will be upgraded. He said that Kihunda area will soon get electricity using funds from the Islamic Bank.
The President further urged the electorate to vote NRM candidate massively come 27th of July 2018. Contenders on the independent ticket include Jonas Tumwine, Akankwatsa Raymond, Meshack Katusiime and Ruyombya Ben while Ms. Virginia Plan is of FDC.
