Uganda face Ivory Coast in 2018 AFCON Beach Soccer qualifiers

Uganda will host the first leg on September 9 at Entebbe before travelling for the return leg between September 21-23 in Abidjan.

ENTEBBE - The Uganda National Beach Soccer team ‘Sand Cranes' will face Ivory Coast in the AFCON 2018 Beach Soccer Qualifiers.  
 
This comes after both sides were drawn in the qualifiers.
 
Uganda will host the first leg on September 9 at Entebbe before travelling for the return leg between September 21-23 in Abidjan.
 
The winner after the two legged encounters will qualify for finals scheduled for December  9-14 in Cairo, Egypt.
 
The 2018 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations will be the second edition of the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations since the current name was adopted in 2016.
 
Previously, beach soccer tournaments organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) were known as the CAF Beach Soccer Championship. Senegal are the defending champions.
 
The tournament will act as a qualification tournament for African teams to the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
 
Uganda last took part in the qualifiers in 2015 when Sand Cranes were eliminated by the Ghana national team, the Black Sharks.
 
Meanwhile, CAF has  invited Ugandan Beach Soccer instructor Ali Mwebe and beach soccer Referee Ivan Kintu Bayige for a CAF Beach Soccer Referees Course to take place in Cairo, Egypt from July  14 -18
 
The duo will be expected to leave on July 13.
