Pre-entry examination for admission to the Post Graduate Bar Course 2018/2019

NOTICE is hereby given that the pre-entry examination for admission to the Post Graduate Bar Course 2018/2019, under the Advocates (Professional Requirement for Admission to Post- Graduate Bar Course) Notice, Legal Notice No. 17 of 2007, as amended by Legal Notice No. 12 of 2010, shall be conducted at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) Multipurpose Hall, Lugogo, on 6th August, 2018 starting at 9.00 a.m. Candidates must be at the examination venue by 7.30 a.m.

The examination shall be closed-book. It shall cover the core University law courses which are: 1) Legal Methods; 2) Constitutional Law; 3) Law of Contract; 4) Criminal Law; 5) Law of Torts; 6) Law of Evidence; 7) Civil Procedure; and 8) Criminal Procedure.

The examination shall also test the candidates' aptitude and values they attach to the legal profession.

Eligible applicants should collect bank slips from the Law Development Centre (LDC) and deposit the prescribed examination fee of Ushs. 50,000 in the designated Bank. After payment to the bank, the bank deposit slip should be returned to LDC together with two recent copies of the candidate's passport size photographs. An examination entry card shall thereafter be issued with an index number for use in the examination. Bank slips will be issued only to those who shall have applied for admission to LDC and are eligible under the law.

The closing date for issuing bank slips and examination cards is 2nd August, 2018.
