Mbarara’s DPC, Magyezi arrested by CMI for interrogations

MBARARA - The list of senior Police Officers who have been arrested by the Chieftancy of Miltary Intelligence is on a rise.
 
The latest to be arrested is the Mbarara district Police Commander Jafar Magyezi who appeared at CMI headquarters in Mbuya on Monday morning.
 
Sources privy to this information have revealed to the New Vision that Magyezi was surmmoned to appear at Mbuya and on Monday morning, he was already at CMI headquarters for interrogations.
 
Sources added that the Mbarara district speaker, Balaam Ndyaguma who doubles as the Regional coordinator for Crime Preventers has also been arrested.
 
Sande Geoffrey, the Army Spokesperson for Second Division Makenke confirmed this to the New Vision on Monday evening however did not divulge the details as to why he was arrested.
 
“He was not arrested as you are saying but he has been summoned to appear in Mbuya and he took himself there by morning  we have not known why he was summoned and I think if you want more information you can call at in Kampala.”
 
When contacted, Rwizi Region Commander Robert Walugembe did not say anything but refered us to Rwizi Region Police spokesperson but did not pick our numerous calls.   
 
Since former Inspector General of Police, Gen Kayihura was arrested on June 13, a joint team of CMI and ISO operatives have moved in to arrest dozens of his former associates or confidants on various alleged crimes.
 
They include Lt Col Peter Musherure, former deputy Director of Crime Intelligence in police, Herbert Muhangi, former Flying Squad commander, Senior Superintendent of Police and former head of Cyber-Crime Richard Ndaboine, former Director of Crime Intelligence in police Col Ndahura Atwooki and several other high ranking police officers.
 
The arrested officers are facing charges, which the State is yet to reveal.
