ENTEBBE - Speaking during the commisioning of the Kampala-Entebbe expressway at Mpala, Entebbe on Friday, the president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni told Ugandans that unlike the other roads, people who wish to use the express highway will have to part with some money.

"I understand you are used to free things but this is a toll road and using this road will not be free of charge. Whoever wishes to use the road will have to pay some money for the services," Museveni said.

However, the fare of using the highway has not yet been announced.

In his speech during the launch of the expressway, the President also hailed the Chienese government for the support extended to Uganda and Africa as a continent.

"We salute the far-sighted Chinese leaders who opened up the economy of China, since 1978, which has resulted into a meteoric rise of china to become the second biggest economy in the world," he said.

The Kampala-Entebbe expressway is the first of its kind in Uganda. It is so far one

of the most beautiful piece of Uganda's growing stock of infrastructure.

It is also a major milestonein a win-winpartenership that the People's Republic of China has built with the Government of Uganda.

The high-way was funded through loans and contributions from China and the Government of uganda respectively.
