Kayihura has been living at his home in Kashagama – Lyantonde District after handing over office of Inspector General of Police in March 2018.

Despite several reports of his arrest, the army say they have only picked former Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura for a meeting with the Chief of Defence Forces.

According to army spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire, Kayihura was asked to report to the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. David Muhoozi on Tuesday, but the helicopter that was sent to pick him did not find him.

Karemire says the helicopter was dispatched this Wednesday to pick him and he has been brought to Kampala.

The social media has been awash with reports of Kayihura's arrest. However, speaking to New Vision Wednesday morning, Kayihura said he was at his farm and there was no truth in the information about his arrest.

Even the army spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire said there was nothing like the arrest of Kayihura.

However, Kayihura told New Vision that even if he was arrested, he would not be the first person to be arrested.

Kayihura is so far the longest serving Inspector General of Police since independence 56 years ago.

His sacking was received with mixed reactions as some members of the public thought it was long overdue, while others felt he had done a tremendous job at the helm of the Police.

Talking to crime preventers at their function in Lugogo, Kayihura said he had always hoped to join crime preventers once he retired and that the retirement had come a bit early.
