WAKISO- Police at Kasenyi landing site in Wakiso district, on Saturday evening nabbed a 32-year old Dennis Tumukunde with a gun and ten rounds of bullets hidden in his house.

According to Ernest Akhankiriho, the officer in charge of Kasenyi Police Post, Tumukunde was arrested after a tip-off from one of the residents who had become suspicious about his behavior.

“Tumukunde could be seen all day doing nothing and yet he was living a luxurious life,” narrated one of the residents at the landing site, before adding that the suspect's only known job was selling marijuana.

Among other stuff that were recovered from Tumukunde's house, was a knife, fuel (petrol), pair of scissors, army uniform, a basin full of marijuana, among others. An identity card reading Uganda People's Defense Air Force (UPDAF), identified Tumukunde as a former army guard attached to United Nations (UN) mission in Somalia.

Hassan Nsabalongo, a resident of the area, identified Tumukunde as a former UPDAF soldier who had been retired in 2010.

"However, whenever we could meet, he told me that he was still serving in the force, though with minor engagements,"  revealed Nsabalongo.

The area Police boss confided that Tumukunde has allegedly been carrying out illegal night operations that included robbery with a group of other men who are still at large.

"We have information to believe that three other guns are still in wrong hands with Tumuknde's colleagues and, therefore, we call upon the public to be more vigilant," said O.C Akhankiriho.

A case file number 23/19/05/2018 was opened against Tumukunde pending further investigations. He had no wife nor children at the landing site.
