Two arrested over kidnap

KIDNAP AND MURDER
 
MPIGI- The Police in Mpigi are holding two suspects in connection to kidnapping and killing of a 28-year-old.
 
The deceased was identified as Ibrahim Bazanye, 28 and was a resident of Kilokola Village, Kalamba Parish in Kibibi Town Council.
 
It is alleged that Bazanye was kidnapped by unknown people who were travelling in a Toyota Corona car on his way from Mpigi Chief Magistrates' court.
 
Bazanye had turned up to court to follow up on his case where he was accusing Juma Matovu of grievous harm.
 
According to one of his relatives who had accompanied him to court, the vehicle in which the kidnappers were traveling first parked at court in the morning and later went trailing them.
 
"When we got out of the court premises, Bazanye told us he was going to Kampala and we separated," a relative narrated.
 
She added that minutes later, the same car trailing him came and they asked Bazanye if they could give him a lift which he accepted and boarded and they took off.
 
Bazanye's body was later found dumped at the roadside at Nakirebe near Nakirebe Police Station with wounds on his head.
 
Rresidents say they saw a Toyota corona car which dumped a man at the roadside and later took off.
 
According to Katonga region Police publicist, Joseph Musana, the body of the deceased was recovered at around 11:30am on Thursday morning.
 
He added that Police has arrested two people whom he identified as Juma Matovu and the other only identified as Ali to help Police with its investigations.
 
"We are currently holding two people in our Police cells at Mpigi Central Police  Station in connectiong to the murder and we appeal to the public to avail us with more" Musana said.
 
The body of the deceased was first taken to Mulago hospital for a postmortem and was later handed over to the family for burial.
 
By press time, the postmortem report was not yet out to ascertain the cause of death of Bazanye.
 
Bazanye had land wrangles with Juma Matovu, stemming from the ownership of a land found in Kalamba Kibibi. He had sued Matovu for assault and causing grievous harm.
