Key suspect in the murder of Gulu University student arrested

Asiimwe, a resident of Kyanaisoke Sub County is suspected to have stabbed to death the 24-year-old Wakisa.

The Police in Kagadi have arrested the prime suspect in the murder of Rebecca Wakisa, a third year student at Gulu University who was murdered early this year.

The suspect has been identified as a 28-year-old Vincent Asiimwe, a commercial motorcyclist attached to Kagadi taxi park stage in Kagadi town council, Kagadi district.

Asiimwe, a resident of Kyanaisoke Sub County is suspected to have stabbed to death the 24-year-old Wakisa, who was the wife of Gerald Iga Matove, a business man operating along Kagadi Market Street in Kagadi town council.

Moses Muramuzi, the Officer in charge of criminal investigations Kagadi District said Asiimwe who is among the key suspects has been in the hideout but was apprehended in Mabaale town council. "After thorough investigations, Asiimwe will be taken to courts of law to answer charges of murder," said Muramuzi.

The late Wakisa was a daughter to the archdeacon of Nyaigana Archdeaconry Reverend Canon captain Mike Kaahwa. By the time of her demise, she was completing a 3 year degree course at Gulu university Hoima campus.
