Kaweesi murder case adjourned to June 7

Nakawa Chief Magistrate's Court has adjourned former police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi's murder case to June 7.

Grade one Magistrate Noah Ssajjabbi was compelled to adjourn the case after state attorney Florence Kataike informed court that state attorney Racheal Nabwire handling the matter was reportedly sick.

"Your worship, my colleague who is handling the matter is sick. Therefore, I request court to allow me time to study the file," Kataike submitted.

The Magistrate also extended the accused person's bail until then.

They are Ahmed Shaban Ssenfuka, Umar Maganda, Sheikh Musa Ntende, Hassan Tumusiime, Ibrahim Kissa, Hamid Magambo, Abdul-Majid Ojerere, Sauda Ayub, Osman Muhammed Omar, Asuman Mugoya, Ibrahim Ssemwanga alias superman and Swaleh Ddamulira.

The state was supposed to make a reply on the application filed by defence lawyers led by Anthony Wameli requesting court to dismiss the case for lack of evidence.

Kaweesi was murdered on March 17, 2017, together with his body guard Kenneth Erau and driver Godfrey Mambewa by unknown assailants traveling on motorcycles in the city suburbs of Kulambiiro, a few meters from his home.

Prosecution alleges  that the group between January and March 2017 in diverse districts of Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, Jinja, Iganga, Bugiri, Busia, Tororo and others at large for purposes of influencing the Government involved themselves in complicity of murder of Kaweesi.

It further alleges that the accused rendered support to Balyejusa and Ogutu, who are members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), rebel group in executing terrorism acts.
