Uganda sends tennis team to Montenegro

Veteran coach John Oduke will be in charge of the team.

Uganda will send a four ladies tennis team to this year's Fed Cup that will be hosted in Montenegro from April 14 to 22 .

The team led by Sandra Khissa, Winnie Birungi, Daphine Mukasa and Patience Athieno  will travel on Saturday.

The Montenegro event will be played outdoors on clay. There will be two pools - one of 5 teams and one of 6 teams. Each team will play all teams in its group on a round robin basis.

The Fed Cup is a premier international team competition in women's tennis. It is also the world's largest annual women's international team sports competitionin terms of the number of nations that compete.

Uganda's appearance in such international events follows the readmission of Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) after clearing her debts.
