Sandra Nabaggala eyes gold in Woodball World Cup

Apr 10, 2018

She has also won dozens of titles in the women and mixed doubles categories, but none in the singles since 2012.

Sandra Nabaggala has now set her eyes on winning gold in the upcoming Woodball World Cup scheduled for July in Thailand following her recent exploits.

Nabaggala won her maiden women singles category title at the Ndejje Woodball Open over the weekend to better her chances of being in the national team.

She has also won dozens of titles in the women and mixed doubles categories, but none in the singles since 2012.

She also won the gate-in-one at the inaugural Beach World Cup last year, an issue that has made her believe that she can perform well at the international level.

"I couldn't believe it on realising that I was the winner because the tournament was tough right from the start," she said.

"I am not going to rest, but start preparations for the World Cup."

At the Ndejje Open, the Ndejje University student finished with 152 strokes in 72 fairways with just one point better than her teammate Pauline Nakayenga with 152 strokes in second and Elizabeth Nambeguya (153 strokes) in third place.

In the men's side, promising player Watson Mugume finished with 141 strokes to win the top accolade, while Thomas Kedi (143) and Brian Gwaaka (145) finished in second and third position respectively.

In the other categories, Benson Kanyesigye and Maria Nansereko won the men and women's corporate titles.
