Uganda is hanging on a thread after suffering a close defeat to England in the netball campaign at  the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

The She Cranes now have two matches to redeem themselves, against Wales on Tuesday and Scotland on Wednesday.

But back to the England match the Ugandan girls were on the back foot from the beginning as they failed to deal with England's swift passing of the ball. The game was getting more difficult for Uganda by the minute and obviously the She Cranes and their coach Imeldah were the happier lot when the umpire's whistle sounded to signal the end of the first quarter. Gasping for air, Uganda captain Peace Proscovia and her colleagues were trailing 18-8 and took the breather with relief.

A mini recovery in the subsequent three quarters closed the gap for Uganda to end the match with a 55-49 defeat. Sunday's loss was the second for Uganda out of three matches in the Commonwealth Games.
