SC Villa join Kabaka Birthday Run

SC Villa has become the first  football club to join this year's Kabaka Birthday Run due on Sunday, after contributing sh500,000.

The money was handed over to Buganda minister for youth, sports and recreation Henry Kiberu Ssekabembe from club president Ben Misagga at Villa Park.

"Being part of Buganda, we thought it was necessary to be part of this cause. We call everyone to join us on Sunday to support this. I promise we shall continue to support this," Misagga said.

The proceeds from the run will go to the treatment of the sickle-cell anemia victims.

This is the third time SC Villa is contributing to this noble cause.

On his part, Ssekabembe urged the public to come in big numbers on Sunday.

"I am pleased to be part of the famous Sports Club Villa that has nurtured  great talent in this country. You are a winning club and I thank you for keeping up the spirit. I call upon everyone to join us on Sunday."

Earlier, MTG Junior School had also contributed sh500,000 to the much-anticipated Kabaka run.

The school director, Richard Kiwanuka, with his staff handed over their contribution to the minister.

The birthday run is co-sponsored by Vision Group, Airtel, Rwenzori Water and Post Bank.
