KAYUNGA - The Isimba hydro power project is in the completion stages and will be handed over to the government before the end of the year, the project manager, Wang Yontian, has said.
The Isimba dam is being constructed by China International Water and Electric Corporation.
According to Yontian, the four-year project, which started in 2013, will generate power of 183MW.
“We are going to complete the project within this year,” Yontian said.

Jonan Kiiza, the public relations officer of Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited, said once the project is complete, the country is going to benefit a lot economically.
The project is employing over 2,000 Ugandans and local materials such as steel and cement are being purchased in Uganda.
