The National Boxing team, the Bombers captain Shadir Musa Bwogi is confident of winning medals at the Bingwa wa Mabingwa Championship that begins today in Tanzania.

Bwogi was speaking at the national boxing trials on Sunday at Lugogo, where nine pugilists qualified for the tourney.

"Like we always do in international tournaments, we shall put on a good show when we get there. I am sure we are very fit to beat the hosts and bring medals home," said Bwogi.

Meanwhile, the Uganda Boxing federation president Moses Muhangi urged the nine boxers who left on Tuesday for Tanzania, to work hard and listen to their coaches if they are to bring home medals.

"I was impressed with the talent displayed on Sunday although I still believe that a lot still needs to be done," said Muhangi.

The Bombers team that traveled includes Joshua Kiiza (light fly), Juma Miro (fly), (lightweight), Musa Shadir (light welter), Joshua Nyanzi (welter), David Ssemujju (middle weight), Reagan Simbwa (light heavy), Latibu Muwonge (heavy weight), Solomon Geko (super heavy).
