The Black Pirates on Saturday beat defending champions Hima Cement Heathens 13-3 in the return leg of the Nile Special Premier rugby league to send a strong message about their league title credentials.

Haruna Muhammad scored a try and drop goal, while Joel Anguyo added a penalty and conversion to seal Pirates  with Simon Okwera scoring Heathens consolation penalty.

It is a result few saw coming, but Pirates came up strong beating Heathens for the fourth consecutive time.

"This is a good result for us, but it is only the second of the nine games we have to play. So we are now going back to prepare for the next game," Pirates coach Bobby Musinguzi said.

Pirates beat Heathens 23-16 in the first round and Saturday's 13-3 win maintained their unbeaten run this season.
