Oil opportunities in Tilenga project open Ugandans

KAMPALA - Are you a Ugandan company interested in doing business in the Tilenga upstream project? If your answer is in affirmative, then you should get ready for engagements on opportunities that the project will present.

Fluor and Ponticelli, the two partners contracted to undertake the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for the Tilenga project have organised a national suppliers' workshop for February 6 at the Pearl of Africa Hotel in Kampala.

The workshop will present a range of opportunities available for local suppliers on the project, ranging from logistics to construction, among others.

Local workshops will, thereafter, be held in Hoima on February 8, Buliisa on February 9, in Pakwach on February 10 and in Nwoya on February 12.
 
Operated by Total E and P Uganda, the Tilenga project will produce an estimated 190,000 to 200,000 barrels of oil per day when production starts.  The Tilenga project covers existing production licenses in Buliisa and Nwoya districts and will host one of the two Central Processing Facilities (CPFs) planned for the Albertine region.

The other CPF will be located in the Kingfisher oilfield further down in Hoima district. The Kingfisher oilfield, operated by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) will produce an estimated 35,000 to 40,000 barrels of oil daily.

The project name Tilenga is a coinage of two local names for the Uganda kob; Engabi in Lunyoro and Til in Luo/Acholi.
