The Hima Cement Heathens stayed within touching distance of the top teams after beating the Warriors 37-07 in the Nile Special Premier Rugby League at Legends Saturday.
The result put Heathens in fourth place with 30 points in the 10-team contest. Pirates lead with 37 points ahead of Kobs (35) and Rhino (34).
Heathens captain Michael Wokorach vowed for better results.
"I would say the year 2018 is going good for us. We started slowly, today but we picked up in the second half and put up some big scores," he said after the triumph.
The Heathens went into that break with a 10-7 lead after the Warriors tried to mount a serious challenge at the end of first half.
The second half was a different affair as the Heathens clearly meant business.
They came out swinging and were rewarded with 27 more points with players such as Alex Mubiru and Cox Muhigwa among the try scorers.
Following the Friday result in which the Black Pirates handed the Kobs their second defeat of the season, the bonus points were a reward for Heathens in deed.
Kobs' defeat by Pirates in the other tie brought the title contest closer.
