A faction of boxing stake holders has requested National Council of Sports (NCS) to call off Saturday's Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) elections.

The 45-man strong group which includes Sam Rukundo, David Kyambadde, Vicky Byarugaba and others made the appeal and resolutions to NCS in a meeting held at Lugogo on Monday evening.

"We don't want to return to the circus of 2010. We request NCS to call off these elections so that we first solve the leadership issue without any bias," Rukundo stated.

The members appointed a 5-man committee chaired by Hajji Ahmed Mbidde with others including Muhammed Ssebuguzi, Recobowamu Ssebikkejje, Shamirah and Zimula Nkoyoyo to meet NCS, UOC and the State Minister of Sport to forge a way forward for boxing.

In 2010, infighting led to a ban by AIBA till a normalisation committee guided by UOC laid a roadmap to the elections that brought the current executive in office.
