Gospel music in Uganda has taken great strides over the years to capture masses with Godly message. But it is good to note that a sub-genre like dancehall, before scorned at as secular, has crept in greatly in our gospel music that it is now acceptable and celebrated.

This Friday, September 29, at Kyadondo Rugby grounds, Kampala, will mark the maiden Love Loud Rave Christian concert that will celebrate reggae and dancehall gospel music, among others.

Organised by Love Loud and Spirit FM, the concert will feature acclaimed Christian dancehall artistes like Trinidad and Tobago's Positive, Nigerian female singer Agent Snypa, Kenya's Dafari and Zambia's only renowned gospel dancehall artiste Sobre.

There will also be local acts like Levixone, Zabuli, Robinsan and Coopybly among many. At the press conference Wednesday morning, held at Kyadondo, Sobre said it always felt good to perform in Uganda because it is a dancehall nation.

"This is my second time in Uganda and it feels like the first time. I like performing here because this is a dancehall nation. In Zambia, I am the only gospel dancehall artiste, so it feels good to represent my country here and I promise to give you a great time," he said.

The organisers say this concert will set the bar for more of their events they intend to organize in years to come. It believed this will be an annual event.

Jeanne Atuhairwe, the Managing Director said. "The Love Loud Rave is going to be our launch pad in Uganda. However, we shall have these raves every year, to give youth an opportunity to network and enjoy themselves," she said.
