Pomp as Vipers unveil new signings

It was all joy as Vipers Football Club introduced their new signings and also launched their new strip on Saturday night.

Club patron Lawrence Mulindwa used the occasion to also announce that the club's high flying skipper Nicholas Wadada is not for sell.

Wadada who was at the same function named the club's MVP, is being sought by Tanzanian Premier League side Azam FC.

"Wadada is still a Vipers player. He is not going anywhere," stressed Mulindwa at a press conference as he responded to a question on Azam FC's move.

 

 

 

Mulindwa, flanked by coach Miguel Da Costa, head of marketing Simon Sekankya and head of media Abdul Wasike, used the occasion underline Vipers' quest for the 2017-18 title.

"We have a solid team that we believe will favourably compete for honours this season." Da Costa echoed a similar warning saying he not only has good players but also a competent technical wing.

The conference followed a colourful ceremony at which the club's new players were unveiled at St Mary's stadium.

The glamorous occasion was also used to also welcome the new season.

Hundreds of fans and residents of Kitende thronged the stadium where they were treated to a feast and music from different artistes.

 

 

The social evening climaxed with local star David Lutalo exciting the huge crowd with his hits.

The club also honoured six players for an outstanding show in the previous season.

Halid Lwaliwa got the fans' player award, Isma Watenga got the inspirational player's prize, Frank ‘Zaga' Tumwesigye was recognized for being the most promising young talent.

Milton Karisa was rewarded for scoring the first goal in the club's stadium. Tonny Odur got the top scorer's award and Wadada the MVP prize.

At the same function, eight new signings; Tom Masiko, Tadeo Lwanga, Mousa Clovis Mbayi, Steven Mukwala, Yayo Lutimba, Steven Mukwala, Baden Mujahid and Ashraf ‘Fadiga' Bamuturaki were officially unveiled.

 

 

The Venoms also unveiled the new home (red shirt) and away (blue) Adidas kit.

Vipers also launched membership cards and season tickets. The latter guarantee fans to entry to all home matches and a number of other benefits.

The sh1m gold ticket also gets you a seat in the presidential box and half and full time restaurant and bar access.

This will be on top of branded merchandise including a jersey, scarf, cap and cap on top of up to date SMS club news. There will also be reserved stadium parking and access to all private training sessions.

 

The sh300,000 Platinum ticket gets one to the VIP section. There will also be SMS updates and half time bar and restaurant access.

The Silver card going for sh150,000 assures one of a special entrance path and regular SMS updates.

Ivory that goes for sh50,000 is strictly for students below 18 years

Vipers' first game of the season will see them travel to Mwererwe at the Champions Stadium to take on Bright Stars on Tuesday.
