Buganda Tourism Expo winds up

Kabaka Mutebi said by preserving and promoting our culture,we fulfill our responsibility of protecting the environment.

The weeklong Buganda Tourism Exhibition, which has been running at Lubiri Palace, Mengo, ended on Sunday with a call on the youth to  rejuvenate their love for culture.

Delivering his speech during the closing function, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi said:
 "By preserving and promoting our cultural norms and traditions, we fulfill our great responsibility of protecting our environment, further to getting income." Mutebi said.

Buganda's deputy minister of tourism, Rita Namyalo Kisitu introduced a book, Buganda, Gate Way to the Pearl of Africa, which contains researched information about Buganda's history and culture. Kabaka Mutebi later launched the book.

Earlier, the Kabaka, who was in the company of Queen Nabagereka, toured the exhibition stalls, which showcased items such as the Ganda traditional foods, Ganda architecture, cultural norms and foods among other things.

The exhibition was supported sponsored by companies such as Vision Group and Bank of Uganda. It was also supported by Uganda Tourism Board, KCCA, Uganda Wild Life Authority and Ministry of Forestry, Wild Life and Antiquities among other bodies. The exhibition ran under the theme: Tourism, Everybody's Business.
