She urged all the youth to come out in good numbers to support the event

Uganda will for the first time host the Commonwealth Youth Ministers Cup this year on Friday at Namboole Stadium, following successful lobbying by the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Nakiwala Kiyingi.

The event will be graced by Commonwealth secretary general, Patricia Scotland. The venue will then play host to the game of the day that will see Onduparaka taking on Express FC.

Speaking at a press conference in Namboole, Nakiwala urged all the youth to come out in good number to support the event.

"To welcome the secretary general Patricia Scotland, I have partnered with a number of organisations to organise a sports gala here at Namboole. As a sports figure, I encourage all the young people to come and showcase their talent on July 28," Nakiwala said.

She added: "We expect people aged between five and thirty to show up for having been part of the Commonwealth since 1962. We usher in the secretary general and her entourage and we'll give out awards too. I call upon Ugandans to join me for Uganda's opportunity to host this gala which isn't a money making endeavour because it has a free entry."
