The deadlock was finally broken in the Mehta T20 Tournament. And who else but Pioneer Cricket Club.

After a series of mixed results, the T20 showpiece now takes a new direction as Pioneer distinguished themselves from the pack following a two- game fixture triumph against KICC Saturday at the Kyambogo oval.

"I told the girls, it was about time we set a different tone in the league and the result was commendable," said Emmanuel Isaneez, coach for Pioneer.

Kenyan National Abel Queentor was yet again a star above the rest. With her scintillating display, she finished man of the match in the two games. It doesn't get no better!

The combined efforts from Leona Babirye (37 from 48 balls) and Abel Queentor (35 from 26) proved crucial in a very close game one where Pioneer won by 5 runs. KICC‘s Veronica Abuga (27 from 43 balls ) and Franklyn Najjumba (14 from 15 balls)

In the second game, Queentor's near half ton of 44 from 30 balls guided Barbra Mukankusi and Co to a 3 runs win despite KICC's spirited fight in chasing the game. At the end a slender lead but just enough to confirm Pioneer the first side to win a typical two-game fixture in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Janet Mbabazi picked 3 wickets as Wanderers beat Tornado Bee by 6 wickets at Entebbe. Hope Wanichan who was man of the match struck 14 not out  from 23 balls as Wanderers successfully chased Tornado Bee's uncharsacteristic figure they set in the first innings.Interestingly Tornado Bee had won a walk over in the first game citing lack of enough playing jerseys.
