MBALE - Table tennis star Halima Nambozo's parents have been relieved of her school fees burden for two terms by the Mbale deputy RDC Pamela Watuwa.
Watuwa pledged to foot Nambozo's tuition fees for two terms after the latter was crowned the Eastern Uganda Sports Press Association (EUSPA) Sports personality of the year for 2016.
This was at an awards dinner held at Freedom Club in Nkoma in Mbale.
"As a mother and an advocate of girl child, I will pay the school fees of Halima for two terms," said Watuwa.
Nambozo, a F.5 student of Mbogo College School, came close to winning the 2015 award, only beaten by Uganda Cranes youngster Farouk Miya.
This time round, she did manage to beat Miya to the top accolade.
Other winners included former Uganda Cranes international Ibrahim Maruti who won the legendary award. In his speech, he urged players to be disciplined.
