Long serving national team golfer Adolf Muhumuza and former team captain won all his 12 games to secure a national team place ahead of the Victoria Cup against Kenya next week.

After the grueling qualifiers, Muhumuza and 11 others that include Ronald Rugumayo are back in the team alongside team captain Becca Mwanja and regular team players; Herman Mutebi, Richard Baguma and Martin Ochaya.

Ismail Muhamood who made his national team debut in Nairobi last year, is also back on the team alongside Denis Asaba. Youngster David Kamulindwa, Davis Kato and Emma Ogwang are also making their debut that will see one person dropped on Sunday after the coach confirms the pairings.

Muhumuza who missed the Zone V championship earlier this year in Zambia, topped the best of 12 matches' qualifier with 12 points while Rugumayo collected 10.5 points.

Ismail Muhamood, David Kamulindwa, Richard Baguma and Davis Kato qualified on 9 points each with Emma Ogwang, Denis Asaba and Martin Ochaya getting 8.5 and 8pts each respectively.

The qualified members were first taken through a rules briefing by Edwin Tumusiime who doubles as a rules official and captain of Entebbe Club after the qualifier.

The three-day tournament due July 6-9 will be played under the Ryder Cup format.

Each country's 8 players will be involved in a match-play competition, of two singles rounds and two rounds of foursomes.

The singles will involve one-on-one matches contested for by the 8 players from either country while the foursomes will have pairs fighting it out in the three-day championships.

Last year, Uganda with a new look team performed well with six golfers that included Ismail Muhamood, Becca Mwanja, Ashraf Bagalana, Joel Basalaine, Edrine Okong and Dennis Asaba, all making their first senior debuts but lost the championship by a point, 13.5-12.5.
