Bakunda targets Pearl rally top 5 finish

Bakunda, a former Arthur Blick Jr. navigator opted to take charge of the wheels this year

Despite driving an inferior Mitsubishi lancer Evo 4, rookie Unisan Bakunda is determined to earn a top five finish in the Pearl of Africa rally due June 29 to July 1.

Bakunda, a former Arthur Blick Jr. navigator opted to take charge of the wheels this year and will be navigated by Umar Kakande.

"We tested our car during the MOSAC autocross and 4x4 championships and we are ready  for the challenge ahead of us as we target a top five finish," Bakunda, the 28 year old Bakunda stated.

"I think I have enough experience and I can handle the pressure to take on the region's best in and finish the rally."

Bakunda will face his former driver Arthur Blick Jr. whom he won with the 2015 national rally championship. Other drivers include; Dr.Ashraf Ahmed, Ronald Ssebuguzi, Omar Mayanja, Desh Kananura, Hima Cement's Ambrose Byona, Christakis Fitidis, Godfrey Lubega and Kuku Ranjit.

Manvir Baryani, Jaspreet Chatte (Kenya), Leroy Gomes, Kleevan Gomes (Zambia),  Yoto Fabrice, Jean Claude Gakwaya (Rwanda) and Giancarlo Davite, (Belgium) are the foreign crews in this three day event.
