Golfers venture into unfamiliar territory at 'Gadies' tournament

They will be trophies for the overall winner men and ladies and prizes for the top players

It will be business unusual for golfers as they compete in the ladies section organised ‘Gadies and Lentlemen' golf tournament at Kitante on Saturday.

A change in roles with male golfers teeing off from the ladies tee and vice versa is what makes this tournament not only unique and exciting, but also challenging for the golfers who get to visit places on the course that they have never been to.

And it doesn't stop at that. The dress code is also expected to change, so a male golfer in a skirt or female in a trouser will not be a surprise as that will also come with a prize for the ‘best dressed'.

And with fabulous prizes on offer, following sponsorship from Guaranty Trust Bank, unveiled yesterday at Kitante by the bank's Executive Director Irenosen Ohiwerei, it can only get better.

Addressing a press conference during the launch, Lady Captain Mary Ocheing said the one-day tournament will test golfers' skills to the limit and that surprise scores were expected in the one-day event expected to attract over 100 golfers from across the country.

"We are excited to host this unique tournament because golfers play a different course. It gives us a new experience but also tests one's skill and ability. We are delighted to partner with GT Bank for this year's tournament," Ochieng noted.

Ohiwerei who was flanked by Ronnie Kabuuza the Head Risk Department said the unique tournament offers them an opportunity to launch their Master Card on the Ugandan market which can be used for all online and ATM transactions.

They will be trophies for the overall winner men and ladies and prizes for the top players in the men and ladies Groups; A, B and C, in the medal mode of play tournament.
