Entebbe man wakes up to dead lover in bed

ENTEBBE - A man in Entebbe woke up to find his 35-year-old girlfriend dead in the same bed.

The couple have been living together in a rented apartment in Lugonjo zone, Entebbe Municipality.

The actual cause of Sylvia Mirembe's death is not known yet.

Her boyfriend, only identified as Frank, said she routinely woke up every morning to recite the rosary. Thereafter, she would do house chores.

This time though, Frank got curious that she had not woken up as usual.

"When I touched her, the body was cold and still," he said.

The night before, Mirembe had been breathing abnormally but later stabilized and slept off, he added.

He body was not taken for a postmortem after Mirembe's relatives revealed that she had been on strong medication for HIV/AIDS. They believe her death was due to natural causes.

The police who had come to pick the body for transfer to a health facility for a postmortem examination agreed with the relatives and Mirembe's body was transported to Kalisizo, Masaka district for burial.
