Bobi Wine: Why I would defy NRM party rules to support him

Jun 05, 2017

First and fore most Bobi Wine has proved that the education system the NRM brought has benefited him making one of the most community beneficiaries of the Movement

Its year 1996 in Kitante hill school I happen to share the same classroom with Bobi wine whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi; a  local musician turned politician. Things were not smooth for me but I believe they were worse for him.

A couple of personal problems in the family that led him to move from school to school. We eventually met in Kitante Hill School to do our final senior four exams. I always sat with him and I can remember very well he used to borrow our meal cards together with another local musician Master parrot sifayo David.

Iam not sure when his mother sadly passed on, but all I remember is he struggled after Kitante. The rest is history but then he surfaces again with his first hit "Kagoma kalulendele"this sells him and I believe buys his first car.

The following years I lost track with him because I moved abroad and then he surfaces again with a wedding that makes headlines around Kampala.

Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine now is a multi millionaire who is a property developer, farmer, entertainer, community developer, family man and, to some, a well-respected member of the public.

As the interim spokesperson of the NRM Diaspora League I personally believe NRM made Bobi -wine and contesting against him is like us fighting our own made.

First and fore most Bobi Wine has proved that the education system the NRM brought has benefited him making one of the most community beneficiaries of the Movement. He has studied all his years and has attended university during our regime, why then contest against our own? We should let him fly the flag high and be proud of him.

Bobi Wine has been involved in developing talent, which has been a effective way of helping ghetto kids have a life away from crime. Many are now successful musicians who have made headlines for Uganda. Those who have heard of Kenzo and Butcherman, to mention but a few, will know that they went through his hands. In fact he has helped all his brothers change their lives using music. Name one kind of Bobi Wine during our regime.

Bobi Wine is a farmer and a property developer, what we need is a young man who can prove to these young men and gals who are engaged in betting and drug use that someone from an unprivileged background can make it without using public funds.

Now assuming he is successful of which I believe he will and we give him funds what do you think he can do for the society. Would the youth believe his story of inspiring the hopeless youth?

What is NRM actually doing fronting a middle aged man with what others would call the youth, cant we honestly get a young cadre to compete with these two apart from bringing someone much older? What if we are defeated? Are we going to look disorganised?

Bobi Wine has been critical of a few things the NRM government has done. But great for him he is a living example that freedom of speech is being used freely in Uganda. That is again another achievement of NRM Party.

Tourism wise through his music and the beach no one underestimates what he has done, how about in the entertainment industry? Who beats him?

With the Government programmes like Operation Wealth Creation, who will be better sell them to the members of the public like Bobi Wine would, a successful farmer from scratch, entrepreneur?

I believe people of Kyadondo East are much better sending Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine because he has proved that he can deal with unemployment, inspire youth to change lives, fight injustice and also prove that anything can happen.

No one better represents a model NRM product than Bobi Wine having benefited from the NRM Education system, infrastructure and the rest.

On June 26, let's all support our own NRM product compete with FDC Katinti who are out to blame us for not developing Uganda.

The contest should be left between Bobi Wine and Kantiti FDC so that Bobi wine can prove to him that in fact you don't need the government to create jobs.

Bobi Wine our product of NRM one of the most successful young men who have prospered on NRM regime. As NRM, we should be proud of him and infact, if he is successful, I would name him the youth minister and give him all funds to transform lives of the youth, especially the underprivileged since he has proved that he can do it himself.
