Drinking hibiscus tea during your pregnancy increases your risk of several complications and should be avoided. Hibiscus could induce your uterus to begin contracting, which could result in a miscarriage, reports Baby Center.

Hibiscus is also said to cause Spontaneous abortion although it's not  know how much a  pregnant woman would have to take for an abortion to occur  hence why it should be avoided either way

It may also have unknown risks to nursing mothers since breast milk contains much of what the mother takes in.

The tropical plant has also been linked to pre-term labor especially for mothers in their third trimester. Most medical personnel are quick to warn their patients on consuming hibiscus.

Despite the many side effects for pregnant women, hibiscus is of great help to those suffering from high blood pressure , stomach upsets as well as gastritis and heart burn.
