Achiro retains Aruu North MP seat

She convincingly won with twice as many votes as her closest challenger James Kidega.

Independent candidate Lucy Achiro Otim retained her seat as Aruu North MP in a by-election held on Thursday.

She convincingly won with 16,808 votes, beating her closest rival, NRM candidate James Kidega who got 8,450.
 
The results were declared by Pader district Electoral Commissioner registrar Joseph Omona at about 11.00 pm local time.

Benard Ology Obina of DP was third with 411 votes while Henry Komakech Banya garnered 108 votes.
 
Independent candidates Justin Boswell Oryema Oryema and David Ojera got 174 votes and 54 votes respectively.

A total of 26, 719 votes were cast.
