KAMPALA - The Uganda People's Congress (UPC) has joined the rest of the country to mourn the death of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, who was murdered Kaweesi alongside his bodyguard Kenneth Erau and driver Godfrey Mambewo.
The tragic incident that shook the nation occured as the trio left Kaweesi's home in Kulambiro, Nakawa division Friday morning.
He was expected to join his counterparts prisons spokesperson Frank Mbaine and army spokersperson Richard Karemereire at Uganda Christian University to address students on career opportunities in the armed forces and how to find them.

"UPC joins the rest of the rest of Uganda to mourn the untimely death of those who perished in this fateful shooting," said party president Jimmy Akena during their weekly press briefing on Wednesday in Kampala.

Akena described the horrific murder as one that has left a scar that will be difficult to erase.
He said Kaweesi will be remembered for his discipline, professionalism and competence in service and that his departure has left a void that will be hard to fill.

"The professionalization of the police force which is ongoing and the AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi was instrumental and played a major role. Indeed the Uganda Police Force and the country will miss his invaluable service."
Meanwhile, it has emerged that Kaweesi received an anonymous text message threatening his life two days before his death.
The three policemen have since been buried as investigations continue. A number of arrests have been made in connection with the killings.
IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura said one the suspects was arrested as he was reportedly crossing the border to flee into neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
