Onduparaka ease past Football for Good

The Arua-based club progressed to the next stage after the eight-goal thriller.

Onduparaka FC dumped Football for Good Academy out of the Uganda Cup, thanks to a comprehensive 6-2 victory.

The Arua-based club progressed to the next stage after the eight-goal thriller at St. Joseph College, Layibi.

Last year, Onduparaka lost the final 3-1 to Vipers SC in Kampala.

This time round, they made quick work of a Football for Good Academy side. Mohamed Toko, Gasper Living and Galdhino Gadhafi scored three goals in the first half.

Peter Ouma pulled one back for the hosts despite dominating an opening period of several misses opportunities.

After the interval, Onduparaka attacked more and despite having one of their own sent off, they scored three more goals.

Edmond Okwir scored twice and Gadhafi Wahab wrapped up the rout before Derrick Ocan scored the second consolation goal for Football for Good late on.

"My team was beaten because Onduparaka players used so much physique and a rough game, which is why they won. My team is only composed of young players," said home side coach Anthony Papira.

His side were also undone by inexperience - being their first ever Uganda Cup participation.

Next year, they hope to put up an improved performance, added Papira.

His opposite, Eddy Kawessa, relished the victory, saying scoring early goals either side of the interval demoralized the opponents.

For now, they will use the game as a learning curve ahead of the start of the Premier League second round.
