Musanyufu appointed UPDF Joint Chief of Staff

Maj Gen Musanyufu has been the Chief of Personnel and Administration (CPA) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces since 2014.

President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the Commander -in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has promoted Brigadier Joseph Musanyufu to the rank of Major General and appointed him the Joint Chief of Staff (JCOS) of the Uganda People's Defence Forces.

Maj Gen Musanyufu has been the Chief of Personnel and Administration (CPA) of the Uganda People's Defence Forces since 2014.  Prior  to  that,  he  held  several  appointments  in  the  defence  forces with the recent ones being the Chief Comptroller Finance of the UPDF and later the Chief of  Integrated Resource Management Information System.

 He joined the National Resistance Army in August 1985. The  new  Joint  Chief  of  Staff has  done  several  mainstream  courses  of  the  Army,  notably Staff College from the USA and National Defence College, India.

Major General Joseph Musanyufu is taking over the office of JCOS from Lt Gen Wilson Mbadi who  was  two  days  ago  promoted  from  the  rank  of  Major  General  to  Lieutenant  General  and  appointed the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces

The Joint Chief of Staff of the UPDF is responsible for control and administration of the Defence  Forces,  Coordinating  all  functions  of  the  UPDF  General  Headquarters  branches,  implementing  policies  as  laid  down  by  High  Command,  plan for  developing  the  force  and  maintenance  of disciplinary standards of the force.

The  UPDF  fraternity  congratulates  Maj  Gen  Joseph  Musanyufu  upon  his  promotion  and  new task as the joint chief of staff of the force, a statement issued the army spokesperson Lt Col Paddy Ankunda stated.
