Ugandan side URA FC will need to step-up their performance if they to defend the Mapinduzi Cup crown they won last year.

The tax collectors face Tanzanian giants Simba today in their third game of the tournament in Zanzibar after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Jang'ombe Boys in their previous game.

URA need to register maximum points in their last two games in Group A against Simba today and Taifa ya Jang'ombe on Sunday if they are to stand a chance to qualify to the next round of the tournament.

The former local league champions are grouped withSimba SC (Tanzania), KVZ, Taifa ya Jang'ombe and Jang'ombe Boys all from Zanzibar.

Group B has Young Africans, Azam FC, Zimamoto and Jamhuri.

The top two teams from both group stages will qualify for the semi-finals and final.

Labama Bokota scored his third goal of the tournament - and a consolation for URA - in their defeat against against Jang'ombe Boys on Tuesday, which had Hamisi Makame striking twice to secure a win for the latter.

Together with KCCA FC, they are the only Ugandan outfit to have won the competition. In 2013, Herman Wasswa scored the only goal when KCCA beat Tanzania giants Simba 1-0 in the final.
