Makame sealed his brace - and the winner. Earlier URA had beaten KVZ FC 2-0 in their game on Sunday evening.

The Ugandan side which doubles as the defending champions of the competition, is in group A with Simba SC (Tanzania) and Zanzibar sides KVZ, Taifa ya Jang'ombe and Jang'ombe Boys.

Group B has Young Africans, Azam FC, Zimamoto and Jamhuri.

URA take on Taifa Ya Jang'ombe in their next game on Thursday.

Last year, the tax collectors thrashed Tanzanian giant Mtibwa FC 3-1 in the final to win the tournament.

Together with KCCA FC, they are the only Ugandan outfit to have won the competition. In 2013, Herman Wasswa scored the only goal when KCCA beat Tanzania giants Simba 1-0 in the final.
