Bunyoro King Solomon Gafabusa Iguru has observed the need to conserve the environment in regards to change in weather patterns which is leading to crop failure.

In his Christmas and New Year message, Iguru called upon Ugandans to plant more trees to protect the environment.

‘‘Protect rivers, streams and swamps -wetlands given their ecological importance,'' he added.

He also hinted at various societal problems that are puzzling the kingdom.

The Omukama condemned gender-based violence and appealed to parents to protect their children during this long holiday.

He asked his subjects to end teenage pregnancies and early marriages.

Iguru asked schools to sensitize school going girls on the dangers of early pregnancies which has contributed to school dropout.
