Finally Christmas has come; this one remaining weeks is for merry making. It is this end of year partying that people look forward to.

However, this week is also the time to fight crowds and do our Christmas shopping. People think about this season and develop fear. The thought of beating the hordes in town to pick one's best is spine-chilling.

The idea that you must shop after all is even worse. So if you are not looking forward to this year's holiday shopping because of the bustle and hustle in town, here are survival tips on having a fun-filled Christmas shopping.

John Zziwa of Lily media says that as a rule, before any shopping is done remember to make a budget and stick by it.

"Buy only what you need as a matter of priority and stick by it. Buy only what you need as a matter of priority and urgency. The law of economics demand that you buy the most affordable to save," says Zziwa.

Zziwa advises people to start drawing the budget now so that you do shopping early.

"As Christmas draws closer, keep a pen and paper to write down all your shopping ideas and do not forget to carry the list with you. This way you are less likely to forget anything important," said Zziwa.

Solome Namisango, an events manager says that always plan ahead of time. For instance, if you decide to shop on Christmas, you will have to fight through the crowds, wait in queues and even choose from limited merchandise.

"People should do shopping during off-peak hours. This is because most stores are not busy during such hours. You shop at your own convenience and avoid crowds," said Namisango.

Namisango warns people that when you shop, a day or two days to Christmas, you are most likely to find when vendors have hiked the prices.

Hellen Nyango of H and C events says that it is only wise to stock upon food, drinks and other goods that will last you until the first week of the New Year.

"If you are an impulsive shopper, avoid moving with lots of money that you have not budgeted to use. Avoid ATM cards, you can end up withdrawing and spending everything," she notes.
