Three Chinese nationals killed in Gulu Highway accident

Three Chinese nationals have been confirmed dead in an accident that happened on Thursday night along Kampala-Gulu highway in Luweero.

Four Chinese nationals were travelling in a Toyota Premio UAZ OO2B from Nakasongola heading to Kampala when the driver rammed into a Fuso truck UAT 480W which was heading to Nakasongola from Luweero.

According to Savannah Region Police spokesperson Vincent Ssekatte two died on the spot while another passed away at Kiwoko Hospital.

"The car was heading to Kampala from Nakasongola while the truck was travelling in the opposite direction. The driver of the Premio was over speeding and lost control, rammed into the truck before swerving off the road into a ditch" Ssekatte said.

"Two Chinese nationals died on the spot and two sustained injuries and were rushed to Kiwoko Hospital but one died from the injuries" he added.

The identities of the Chinese nationals were not known by press time.
