Lukwago hails Masaza champions Buddu

The Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has hailed the Buddu football team for having won the Buganda Masaza Cup, 2016.

In the match that ended in penalties on Saturday, Buddu won the match 6-5 on penalties against Gomba infront of the watching Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi who was the chief guest at the finals at Namboole Stadium.

The Buddu team led their manager Edward Nakibinge accompanied by Jude Mbabali the Masaka LC5 chairperson visited Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to present the trophy they won to Lukwago and the council.

Lukwago who said he is from Buddu said the team has brought honour to them as people from the area adding that he will continue supporting the team in any way KCCA can.

He added that KCCA supports sports adding that it is the reason why KCCA Football Club is the defending champion of the Azam Super League.

Lukwago and the council gave the team sh2m to enable then to buy a bull for celebrations when they return home.

He urged them to put their excitement aside and drive safely while returning home adding that Masaka Road is dangerous.

On behalf of the team, Mbabali thanked people for supporting the team throughout the tournament.
