UVF has upped allowances for the referees from sh15,000 to sh20,000

As the Serie A NSSF volleyball league resumes Wednesday night after weeks off, Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) has lifted its indefinite suspension of four top referees.

Henry Okullu, Sylvia Gimbo, Dennis Wakabi and international referee Innocent Komakech, who were punished for allegedly inciting fellow referees to boycott games, were let off after a meeting with UVF president Sadik Nasiwu on Friday.

Details of the meeting remain scanty but Nasiwu insisted that the federation needed the officials to maintain quality refereeing in the league.

New Vision has since learned that UVF has also upped allowances for the referees from sh15,000 to sh20,000 for night games which was one of the grievances of the officials.

UVF vice president Godwin Ssenyondo confirmed that the referees were now available for deployment effective Wednesday.

In tonight's fixtures, four men's rival clubs take on each other at the MTN Arena in Lugogo.

Nemostars who missed the NSSF KAVC International tournament a fortnight ago will have no option but meet their mother club.

Sky VC that also split from Sport-S welcome their rivals at the same venue with the former looking better placed to win.

Sky VC missed out on winning the recent tournament losing by a whisker to INATEK could end up exacting their revenge on local rivals.

They will lean heavily on the tournament's MVP Kathbert Malinga, arguably the most on form local player, to win the encounter for them and set the pace for the season.
