Son hacks father to death

Anyii who was reportedly released from prison in April on allegations of cutting his neighbor's cow reportedly hacked his father Eng John Washington Ogwang, 76, commonly known as Ogwang chief with an axe and fled to a neighbor's house.

Police is holding a young man who allegedly hacked his elderly father, a LC1 chairperson of Awita village, Amuca Parish to death. Charles Anyii, 27, was handed over to police at Amuca Police post in Lira Sub County by his neighbor.

Anyii who was reportedly released from prison in April on allegations of cutting his neighbor's cow reportedly hacked his father Eng John Washington Ogwang, 76, commonly known as Ogwang chief with an axe and fled to a neighbor's house.

The incident happened on Wednesday at around 8am at Owiti village, Amuca Parish, Lira Sub County. Scene of crime officers from Lira CPS reportedly went and removed the axe which had got stuck on the deceased's head.

Anyii's relative Patrick Apita  posted on his Facebook page that Anyii is a drug addict. "This Boy has been smoking marijuana," Apita posted.

The DPC Ezra Tugume declined to comment on the matter saying he is not allowed despite earlier granting interview to other media

Ogwang served as chief engineer at Uganda Spinning Mill Limited and was until his death representative of former employees of former Uganda Spinning Mill Limited who are battling for their terminal benefits.
