FUFA submits final requirements to NCS

FUFA chief executive officer Edgar Watson submitted the remaining documents

FUFA has honoured the remaining requirements with the National Council of Sports (NCS) for them to complete their registration as the national football governing body in Uganda.

NCS is registering all sports governing bodies in the country under the Trusteeship Act but a rift emerged with FUFA with the latter insisting that the act contravenes the FIFA statute.

But following a meeting in Kampala in July FUFA, FIFA and NCS resolved the matter when government pledged through the minister of sports Charles Bakkabulindi said it would not interfere with football management as required by FIFA.

On Tuesday, FUFA chief executive officer Edgar Watson submitted the remaining documents to NCS general secretary Nicholas Muramagi and his assistant David Katende at the NCS boardroom.

"We are law abiding citizens and that is why we had to submit these remaining requirements as a way of completing our submission which we started long time ago. We only had issues with rules of football globally and so needed assurance from our government," Watson said.

Muramagi thanked the FUFA officials and Bakkabulindi who brokered a meeting that reached consensus between FIFA/FUFA and NCS in Kampala last month.

"I am grateful FUFA have managed to do what is required of them before the deadline that was scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday). This rests the matter. I hope we now focus on Comoros," Muramagi said.
