Teenage girl arrested for attempted murder

Police in Rukungiri are holding a 19-years-old girl identified as Phionah Atuheire for allegedly attempting to poison the family of Jackson Tushabe.

The officer in charge of criminal investigations in Rukungiri, Julius Twinamatsiko told reporters on Wednesday that the incident happened at Rweshama fishing village earlier this month.

He said that Atuheire, who was staying with Jackson Tushabe at the time, allegedly put a poison in the fish she had prepared for supper one evening.

After eating it, Tushabe started vomiting and was rushed to Nyakibale Hospital where he has been admitted since.

Police said they are investigating the matter and that the suspect would be charged with attempted murder in the courts of law.
