Uganda People's Congress (UPC) has announced plans to celebrate 49 years since the party was formed.

The party officials also laid a foundation stone, to kick off the celebrations.

According to the officials, the old foundation stone at Uganda House in the heart of Kampala was removed by officials of Milton Obote Foundation (MOF).

"The party assets will never belong to anyone other than its members and those in MOF who believe otherwise would be best served to understand this fact because Uganda House will never be taken away from UPC," said Lawrence Engirot Okae, the national party chairman.

Okae further stated that UPC and MOF have been in talks for a while and they, as UPC have always informed MOF leaders what's on ground and so their main aim as UPC is to fight poverty, bring in education, peace and unit.
