The Uganda Premier League (UPL) awards will take place from Serena Hotel on August twelfth as confirmed by the UPL secretariat at the press conference held today at Namboole Stadium.
The event process involves identifying, recognizing, and awarding personalities that have excelled in different categories.
The UPL awards will be awarded basing on various disciplines such as footballer of the year, MVP (Most Valuable Player), best defender, best coach, best goalkeeper, best midfielder, best goal keeping coach, Life time achiever, longest serving player of the league, best fan, best referee, best CEO (UPL) clubs, league top scorer, fans player of the season (to be selected online by general public), upcoming player, best media personality and the champions (KCCA FC).
UPL CEO Bernard Bainamani emphasised that the main objective of the awards is to encourage competition, recognizing and rewarding the best performers, league brand promotions among others.
“This process will go on and it will be done annually. We shall mostly target the most convenient time before the league ends because it always ends in June” Bainamani stated.
The secretariat has already tabled at least three players and coaches from whom the best will be selected.
The awards committee will verify through the few shortlisted nominees in different categories.
