Eight suspected cannibals arrested in Luuka

Police in Luuka district are holding eight people after a dead body of a 5 year old girl went missing from their home.

The suspects, including the deceased's father Mohamed Lubaale, his wife Angel Nabirye,Mathias Waiswa and Ayub Kamya, were arrested after neighbours accused them of having eaten the dead body the previous night.

However, Lubaale claims the dead body which had been left in the sitting room could have been stolen by one of his in laws who had come to attend the funeral.

According to the LC one chairman, Buloba village, Busiba sub county, Moses Kaziba said the family had earlier been accused by locals of being cannibals.

"People even fear going to that home for fear of being eaten by the family members,"he said

The body of 5 year old Hanifa Babirye had been brought home from Iganga main hospital where she died following a short illness.
