Uganda's beach volleyball commission has suspended its annual calendar for five months because they have lost their sponsor.

The beach volleyball commission chairman Mofaht Masaba ensured that Uganda was the only East African country with regular beach volleyball events. But since last year, they have been inconsistent.

Masaba blamed their inconsistency on the lack of financial power and the narrowed courts at Lido beach.

According to the UVF calendar, the first National Beach Volleyball Tour should have been held in April and the second one of the season this Sunday.

"We have suspended all our activities until August because of the so degraded courts. The water has covered much of the grounds. We need a minimum of six courts but currently you can only make two maximum," Masaba explained.

"Besides we can't shift to another venue at the moment because it requires good amounts of money. We hope to get another sponsor soon. What we are debating is whether to get a sole or different sponsors for our events," Masaba added.

Until last year when their three-year contract expired, Club beer and Castle Lite sponsored the annual competition.
